Study Abroad & Exchanges

Studying off-campus through a study away or study abroad program can be one of the most exhilarating learning experiences of your life. Grand View offers a variety of academic opportunities for students to engage and explore throughout the United States and the world.

Program Descriptions

The following are a few examples of program options for Grand View students. If one of these programs does not align with your major or interests, the Office of International Studies works with a variety of program providers in almost any region of the world in order to place students in high-quality study abroad programs.

Lorenzo de' Medici - The Italian International Institute

Lorenzo de’ Medici (LdM) is an Italian Institute with campuses in Florence, Rome, Tuscania, and Venice. The educational opportunities at each of LdM’s campuses are deeply rooted in their surrounding environments. Students may concentrate their entire semester at any one of the four LdM campuses or experience local and regional differences within Italy through the “One Semester – Three Cities” Program. Students enrolled in the “One Semester – Three Cities” program study Italian language and the roots of Western culture in three of LdM’s four sites: Tuscania, Rome, and either Florence in the fall or Venice in the spring.

At LdM experienced professors from Italy and around the world teach over 400 courses in four main academic divisions: Arts and Sciences, Creative Arts, Design, and Italian Language and Culture. The LdM academic calendar follows a semester structure and includes a three-week January Intersession and three, month-long summer sessions. While most LdM classes are conducted in English, all Italian Language and Culture courses are taught in Italian.

LdM hosts students from over 80 countries worldwide. Housing options include student apartments, family stay, and independently-arranged housing. Cultural coordinators organize clubs and excursions which provide students with opportunities to experience Italy while meeting and interacting with other students and people of Florence, Rome, Tuscany, and Venice.
