Dr. Erin Kim-Cho Selected as Fellow and Research Co-Chair at AEJMC

Dr. Erin Kim-Cho, assistant professor in the Communication and Media Practice, has been named 2024-2025 Kopenhaver Center Fellow by the Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Center for the Advancement of Women in Communication at Florida International University.
As one of the 2024 cohort of distinguished fellows, Dr. Kim-Cho participated in the “Women’s Faculty Moving Forward: Freedom to Succeed” workshop held at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) Convention on Aug. 7 in Philadelphia.
The 12th annual workshop, sponsored by the AEJMC Commission on the Status of Women, the Kopenhaver Center and the AEJMC Council of Affiliates, was designed to help junior women faculty members move forward in their careers through mentoring, networking and preparing for tenure and promotion and administration or other leadership positions.
The Kopenhaver Center was created to empower both women professionals and academics in all the fields of communication become visionaries and leaders who can make a difference in their communities and their profession. The intensive workshop is designed to assist new tenure-track professors navigate academic life, learn how to achieve success in the academy, and prepare for possible leadership roles.
Dr. Kim-Cho will also serve as Research Co-Chair for Small Programs Interest Group (SPIG) at AEJMC for the next two years.
At the AEJMC 2024 conference in Philadelphia (Aug 7-11, 2024), Dr. Kim-Cho participated as a panelist to discuss: “Internships and Career Development as Re-Engagement Tools: Bridging Classroom Learning with Real-World Impact: A Case Study in Magazine Publishing.”
