"The Laramie Project" continues to be relevant today as hatred and division cloud our efforts toward equality"
- Judy Shepard, Arts Arizona, 2023
This deeply moving play takes place ten years after the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay University of Wyoming student. It revisits the town of Laramie and explores the lasting effects of such a horrific crime on the community and its people. Using interviews, and real-life testimony, the question explored is: Who controls the memory and the story that is told after such an event? The play serves as both a poignant reflection on the passage of time and a call to action for progress, understanding and change.

Note: This play contains adult themes and descriptions of violence.
Wednesday only: Dennis Shepard, Matthew Shepard's father, has offered to hold a talkback with our audience on Zoom directly after our opening night performance. We hope you will join us for this special short conversation and Q & A with Dennis Shepard.
