Campus Ministry Hosts Fifth Annual Moses Project Retreat
January 25, 2024
Campus Ministry hosted the fifth annual Moses Project Retreat for rural pastors January 8-10. Over twenty rural pastors from 10 different midwestern states traveled to Grand View for three days of teaching, worship, play, and laughter.
The retreat began with stations of fun and included daily mystery gifts, music and worship, professional development provided by Kent Schornack, Grand View’s former Director of Leadership and Counseling, time with mentors and mini-cohorts, and even Archer, Grand View’s therapy dog, made an appearance. One pastor said, “The relationships and collegiality have been really helpful. Rural ministry can feel especially isolating and lonely so being able to build these relationships with colleagues and be reminded that we’re not alone in this is invaluable.”
The Moses Project (https://www.mosesproject.org/), housed at Grand View University, is a Lilly Endowment Inc. funded grant that focuses on helping rural pastors in the ELCA thrive in ministry.
