Center for Mentoring, Coaching and Leadership Development Announces Next Session
July 17, 2023
Established in 2021, The Center for Mentoring, Coaching, and Leadership Development helps people become compassionate listeners by training them in active listening, discovery learning, and the IDEA methodology in mentor-coaching. “A compassionate listener cares enough about another person to hear the story in their story,” says Center Director, Paul Leavenworth, “to help them become better versions of themselves and better leaders in their spheres of influence.”
The Center currently offers two prerequisite training events:
- The Mentor-Coaching Seminar: in-person and online via Udemy
- The Mentor-Coaching Skills Training: in-person and online via Blackboard
The next session of the online Mentor-Coaching Skills Training, designed for individual, small group or team training, starts on Monday, August 28, 2023. More information about the upcoming skills training is available on the Center’s web page.
“Participating in the Mentor Coaching Leadership Certificate program was one of the best opportunities for professional and personal development that I have experienced,” says Brigid Ernst, GV’s student success program director, “I learned skills, like compassionate and active listening and how to ask powerful questions, that I apply in my job daily. Participating in the program and becoming certified in Mentor Coaching has helped open new doors for me at work.”
The Center also offers three certificate programs: a Certificate in Mentoring, Coaching, and Leadership Development, a Certificate in Small Group Facilitation and a Certificate in Consulting for Mentoring, Coaching, and Leadership Development.
The Center has successfully trained more than 100 individuals at Grand View and other off-campus training cohorts for organizations such as Northwestern Mutual, Iowa Department of Public Health, Sylvan Learning Centers, Valley Church, Montana State University and YWAM (Youth with a Mission), Salem, OR.
