GV Connect: A Networking Event for First-Generation Students and Beyond

February 15, 2025

Grand View University’s Career Center, in partnership with Advancement, is hosting an exciting networking opportunity for students to connect with GV alumni and employers. The upcoming event, GV Connect: Mix, Mingle & Mentor, is designed to help students build valuable professional connections, especially those who may not have had access to a robust network before college.

Scheduled for Wednesday, February 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ibsen’s Valhalla, GV Connect aims to create an inclusive environment for students, with a focus on first-generation students and others who may have entered college with a smaller professional network. The event provides an excellent platform for students to meet alumni from 12 different employers and gain insight into various career paths, industries, and opportunities. It’s an invaluable chance for students to make meaningful connections both within their field of study and beyond.

A special thank you to the teams that have made this event possible, including the Inclusive and Supportive Programming/Title III Grant Team, the Jacobsen Institute, our AmeriCorps College Success Coach, Multicultural and Community Outreach, and several Grand View student organizations for their ongoing planning and support.

This is a unique opportunity for students to expand their professional network, gain career advice, and potentially open doors for internships, jobs, or mentorship.

Students can sign up for the event through Handshake here. Don’t miss this chance to take a step forward in building your career!
