Biography of Aage Clausen
Aage Richard Clausen was born in the Danish town of Dannebrog, Nebraska on September 12, 1932. The son of Danish immigrants, he grew up on a farm in Nebraska and was the first member of his family to attend college. He received an A.A. degree from Grand View (then a junior college) in 1952.
After returning from Army service, Aage graduated from Macalester College in 1957. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1964, before working as an assistant professor at University of Wisconsin, Madison and as a visiting professor at Göteborg University in Sweden.
Aage joined Ohio State University as Associate Professor of Political Science in 1971, and was a full professor from 1973 until he retired in 1997. He was known for his pioneering work on legislative roll call analysis, as well as voting behavior and survey research.
After passing away on January 14, 2011, at age 78, Aage continues his legacy of education through the annual Lifelong Learning Scholarship program at Grand View University.
