Jacob F. Opel Memorial Scholarship Application

Ms. Shirley J. Opel has established this scholarship in memory of her son, Jacob F. Opel ‘09.  Jacob was a bright and caring student who grew up on Des Moines’ east side and graduated from East High School. Jacob attended Grand View and made a lasting impact on campus. As an accounting major in the honors program, Jacob graduated from Grand View in three years. While at GV Jacob served as the CFO for Viking Council for two years and helped create traditions and programs that continued well after his time at GV. The two (2) scholarships created in Jacob’s memory support a business student, in honor of Jacob’s time at Grand View, and a nursing student, to honor the nurses that provided support and care for Jacob during his final days. 

By submitting this application, you certify that the information provided on this application is true and that you have not willfully withheld any pertinent information. You agree to use scholarship funds only for tuition for your coursework at Grand View University. You grant permission for information to be given to appropriate committees so that they may evaluate your eligibility. You give permission for information to be released to Grand View Public Relations for publication/publicity purposes.
