Skylar Mayberry-Mayes named Executive Director of the Jacobson Institute

Grand View announces the hire of Dr. Skylar Mayberry-Mayes as Executive Director of the Jacobson Institute (JI). The Jacobson Institute was established with a gift from the late Dick Jacobson in 2008. The purpose of the Institute is to enable Grand View to be a resource to the Central Iowa region by innovating through education and providing workforce skills assessment and training.

Dr. Mayberry-Mayes joins Grand View from Principal, where he served as senior strategist for community relations and the Principal Foundation. He is also a lecturer in the Professional Readiness Program at the University of Northern Iowa’s School of Business. Prior to Principal, he supported customer strategy and engagement at Nationwide Insurance and was also a senior credit analyst at Bankers Trust.

Dr. Mayberry-Mayes has a bachelor of arts in finance degree from the University of Northern Iowa, a master of business administration degree from Iowa State University and doctor of philosophy degree in education from Drake University.

Dr. Mayberry-Mayes is the recipient of a Presidential Volunteer Service Award, A Governor’s Volunteer Service Award (Iowa) and an Alpha Phi Alpha, 40 under 40 Civic Engagement Award. He is also a Forbes Scholar and was named a Heritage Alumni Honoree by the University of Northern Iowa.
