Summary of Benefits

Grand View offers a variety of benefits to eligible staff and faculty. Employees working full-time (27 hours or more per week) and part-time (working 18 hours or more per week) on a calendar basis are eligible for benefits. Eligible dependents are an employee’s legal spouse and children. See the list below:

Medical Insurance

Employees are offered a choice of three different medical plans through Unity Point Health Partners. Employees and their spouse/dependents are eligible for coverage on the first day of hire. Grand View pays a portion of the premium.

Follow this link to access machine-readable files (MRFs) that are made available in response to federal Transparency in Coverage rules. The MRFs contain pricing information about covered items and services, and are formatted to allow third parties to access and analyze the data.

Dental Insurance

Dental insurance through Delta Dental is available for employees and their spouse/dependents. Coverage begins on the first day of hire. Grand View pays a portion of the premium.

Life Insurance
Grand View provides one times the employee’s annual salary in life insurance at no cost to the employee. Additional life and AD&D coverage is available for employees, spouses, and dependents who choose to elect the benefit. The voluntary life insurance is paid for by the employee.
Disability Insurance
Grand View offers both short-term and long-term disability insurance at no cost to employees. This coverage provides 60% of the employee’s salary in the case of an ongoing injury or illness.
Flexible Benefit Program
The employee’s portion of medical and dental premiums is deducted from paychecks pre-tax. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in medical and/or dependent care flexible benefit programs.
Health Savings Account
Employees who choose to participate in a qualified High Deductible Health Plan may make contributions to a Health Savings Account in accordance with applicable rules and laws. Employees who elect the HDHP coverage through Grand View will also receive up to $1,000 from the University to be deposited into their health savings account.
Discount Vision Care Services
Employees are enrolled in discount vision care services upon hire. This program is free for employees and offers discounted fees for exams and products. If desired, employees may elect additional vision care coverage at their cost.
403(B) Retirement Savings Plan

Employees may contribute to a 403(b) retirement savings plan upon hire. We also offer a Roth 403(b) option.

Money Purchase Plan (MPP) - Principal Financial Group
After one year of service, Grand View will contribute 7% of a full-time employee’s monthly salary into the Money Purchase Plan. (One year of service requirement may be waived if an employee has taught or worked full-time in higher education for an equivalent of one year within the past five years.)
Voluntary Products
We offer a variety of voluntary products through AFLAC should employees desire coverage. This includes hospital, stroke, heart, cancer, and disability policies.
Long Term Care Insurance

Employees have an option of purchasing long term care insurance through an individual plan.

Tuition Waiver
Employees are eligible for 100% tuition waiver for undergraduate classes at Grand View. After one year of full-time service, an employee’s spouse and children are eligible for 100% tuition waiver as well for undergraduate classes. In addition, full-time employees may receive a tuition benefit of 80% of tuition for graduate level courses. After one year of employment, an employee’s spouse, and dependent children, up to the age of 26, are eligible to receive a 20% discount on graduate courses at Grand View.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

This third-party professional assistance is confidential for employees and their dependents.

Vacation Time
New hires begin accruing vacation upon hire at a rate of 15 days per year. After 5 years of employment, employees earn 20 days per year. Employees with 10 years or more of service earn 26 days per year. While we encourage employees to take time off, vacation balances to a certain amount can be carried over into the next year.
Sick Leave

Eligible employees earn 1 day of sick leave per month.

Bookstore
Employees enjoy a 15% discount on most items in our Bookstore (exclusions: convenience items, software, computers, calculators, class rings, rental textbooks, digital textbooks, textbook access codes). Employees also receive 10% off textbooks.
