Grand View Choir’s Midwest BBQuire Tour: A Journey of Music, Reflection, & Barbecue

March 5, 2025

This March, the Grand View Choir will embark on an exciting five-day Spring Tour, traveling from March 13th to March 17th, with performances for ELCA congregations in Kansas City, Columbia, and St. Louis. Dubbed the Midwest BBQuire Tour, this journey will blend the choir’s powerful performances with a delicious side of adventure—sampling some of the best barbecue in each city!

The tour will feature 33 talented singers, all under the direction of Dr. Joshua Boggs and accompanied by Rachel Cohen on piano. Together, they’ll showcase a dynamic and moving program that explores the themes of Time. Place. Memory. Through their repertoire, the choir will take audiences on a reflective journey through these profound concepts, exploring the role these elements play in our lives today.

The choir’s repertoire features inspiring works by celebrated composers such as Ysaye M. Barnwell, Anton Bruckner, Stacey V. Gibbs, Elaine Hagenberg, Shawn Kirchner, Jacob Narverud, Stephen Paulus, Charles Stanford, and more. Through both music and text, the program will delve into the significance of time, place, and memory, resonating deeply with listeners and offering space for reflection.

As they travel and perform, the Grand View Choir hopes to not only share their music but also create lasting memories with each community they visit. Audiences are invited to join in the experience, reflecting on the themes of the tour while enjoying the beauty and joy of choral music.

After the tour, the choir will host a home concert on Sunday, April 13th at 4 p.m. at Luther Memorial Church, where local audiences can enjoy a special performance that brings the tour's themes full circle.

Will you take a moment to make Time. Place. Memory with the Grand View Choir?
