Students Pack 2000 Pounds of Onions for Iowa Families at the Food Bank

March 18, 2025

On March 6, students in the Social Issues class made an incredible impact at the Food Bank of Iowa by volunteering their time and energy to pack 2000 pounds of onions for individuals and families in need. As part of the non-profit hours required for the class, the group worked together to help alleviate food insecurity in the state, and their dedication is truly commendable.

The group packed onions with efficiency and teamwork, and despite the heavy workload, they managed to be the second fastest group the Food Bank had ever had! The group’s collective efforts will help provide fresh produce to those who need it most, demonstrating not only a commitment to social issues but also a genuine care for their community.
